FO on Wednesday

Meet Liesl!

I actually finished this a while ago but then it was lying around, waiting to be washed and blocked, and well, lace really doesn't look great if it isn't blocked, so I didn't want to photograph her before that was done.

Then, when I had finally got round to the blocking I still had to find some suitable buttons. These ones were luckily located in my big vintage button jar - looking at them they probably belonged to one of D's gran's old coats or jackets...

They are perfect for Liesl I think.

Unfortunately I then sewed them on too far apart and rather than take them off and sew them on closer together straight away I got bored, lost interest, and did something else for a few days. Do you ever do this, or is it just me who does bizarre things like get side-tracked away from a project that is literally 5 minutes from being complete?!

Anyway, it's finally done, and I love it!

Photos, as usual, taken by boy #1.

  2. That is a great spring/summer color. The lace is feminine and has eye interest. Great job.

  3. It's lovely. I put off sewing on buttons, and it's really not that big of a project! Even when sewing I hated sewing on buttons.

  6. Gorgeous, colour and pattern. I don't put off the initial finishing but I would have delayed the redoing of the buttons!

    1. It's so annoying when you think you are done with a project only to find you have to redo something, isn't it? I'm so glad it's done, though, and that the experiment with the thinner handspun has worked out ok.

  7. Great finish and the colour suits your colouring well. I have a pair of socks that still needs one end weaved in that I have worn a few times but keep forgetting. It annoys me every time I put them on but I get distracted and never do it.

    1. Thank you. I'm hoping it will get a lot of wear this summer!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does things like this. I also had a pair of socks with one end not woven in and I wore it for ages, tucking the long end into the sock, before I finally made myself do it. :D

  8. Oh, Iris....this turned out GREAT!!!! Great design, wonderful color....just perfect!
Procrastinate? Moi? (hee hee! want to see my pile to be blocked? or how about the pile that needs just a seam to be finished? and then, there is the 'repair' pile---a button, a pulled stitch, a sock toe that needs mending!!!!)

    1. Thank you. Glad to hear that even a master knitter like yourself has a pile of almost-finished projects!! :D

  10. So pretty! Great job! And, no, you aren't alone. It takes me forever to do things like sew on buttons or fix mistakes.

    1. Thanks. And it's odd isn't it, how fixing small mistakes or sewing on a couple of buttons can lead to so much procrastination!
